… because Architecture would be nothing without the nothingness it surrounds, even light, the partner of shade is dependent upon it. The same is true for the city and nowhere more so than in Berlin, where that nothingness created a city of luxurious potential. It is this luxurious potential which sets Berlin apart from the defined, and thus in some ways dead, cities of density and completion. To abandon the vastness of the Tempelhofer feld is to ignore the essence of this city.“
